A very special sighting Elephants November 11, 2022 Last night, as the sun was starting to set over Kafue National Park, Chamilandu and Mutaanzi David were spotted among a herd of 28 elephants. Fully immersed in the wild, this rare and special sighting is something we’ve been dreaming of since Chamilandu’s rescue, and we’re thrilled to be able to share such a significant milestone with you! Chamilandu, lovingly known as Chamma, was rescued with the support of David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) in 2007, after her mother was killed by poachers. Once the matriarch of the Elephant Orphanage in Zambia, she has been fully wild since Easter this year, along with her three-year-old calf, Mutaanzi David, named in honour of our late founder, David Shepherd CBE. This extraordinary moment reinforces the importance of protecting not only our planet’s precious wildlife but also the wild spaces they inhabit. You can help us to continue supporting orphan elephants on their journey back to the wild by adopting Chamma or donating today. Link copied
