Blue Forest brings together nine textile sculptures that collectively form an organic and immersive ecosystem. Each piece represents a fragment of a living world, inspired by coral reefs, the deep blue ocean, and the richness of natural biodiversity. Created from discarded textile industry waste and crafted using traditional textile techniques, the works reflect Vanessa Barragão’s commitment to sustainability, material regeneration, and the preservation of ecosystems, celebrating the diversity and resilience of the natural world.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Vanessa Barragão (b. 1992, Faro, Portugal) is a Portuguese textile artist recognised for transforming reclaimed textile materials into immersive artworks inspired by marine ecosystems. Combining traditional textile techniques with a contemporary artistic language, her practice explores themes of ecology, memory, and material transformation. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is represented in public and private collections, including the permanent collection of the United Nations headquarters in New York.
