ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Inspired by his passion to help endangered species and support wildlife conservation for those who suffer the most at the hands of human greed, Matthew decided to create a painting that dives into the undergrowth and shines a light on the most trafficked mammal on Earth—the pangolin. By exploring the mystery surrounding this gentle, nomadic creature and exposing the farcical beliefs of medicinal properties that fuel its demise, Matthew hopes to rewrite the narrative of this critically endangered species.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Matthew Polluk is a self taught artist who creates hyper-realistic works of art that depict the animals he loves in all shapes and sizes. Matthew’s drawings often suspend a moment in animal encounters which he exploits to not only explore the physical form that characterises the species and its adaptation to a given environment and lifestyle, but also to ponder the various nuances that reflect the personality and individuality of his subject.
