14 Tigers caught on camera!

Camera traps have captured photos of 14 tigers in the Manas National Park. The park spans the border between India and Bhutan at the foothills of the Himalayas. The area scanned was 650km of the protected sanctuary. The 14 tigers captured on film are made up from 7 males and 6 females, with one tigers gender unknown. Four of the tigers are known to the area and were spotted on both sides of the border.

Firoz Ahmed, a tiger expert funded by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation is confident that there will be more tigers spotted as he stated ‘there could be more tigers as only three ranges have been surveyed’. Firoz went on the say that ‘fourteen tigers is a good enough figure considering the prey base and the situation’.

To have so many tigers captured on camera has come as fantastic news for TigerTime and DSWF. It is news like this that we hope for and it spurs us on in all of our work.
