A charming and evocative image of a heavy horse being shoed with her foal. This is a delightful calming image of a bygone era when heavy horses were working horses, used daily and needed to be shod on a regular basis – usually every six weeks. Their hooves need to be trimmed, strengthened and protected. Here one sees a tranquil scene with the blacksmith working on the mare with her foal nearby. Published signed limited edition of 1200 in 1988.
