Sketches from the Field by Mandy Shepherd
“This has been an informal project covering three consecutive trips to Uganda between 2018-2020 observing the work undertaken by the Uganda Conservation Foundation (UCF) in association with the Ugandan Wildlife Authority. In 2018 I visited Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls and Kidepo National Parks and the following year did a repeat safari. In March this year I returned to witness the huge effort to combat the problems of snaring, particularly at Murchison Falls National Park and worked with the Rangers during one of their trips to collar the lions. The learning curve is exponential and even in this extraordinary era of pandemic and the challenges it has created, DSWF remains committed and dedicated to the cause.” Mandy Shepherd, DSWF Art Ambassador and David Shepherd’s daughter.
