Enter Breathing World 2022
David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) thanks you for your interest in taking part in our youth composer competition Breathing World. This competition is designed as a way to use nature as the source of inspiration for a piece of music which celebrates the natural world and wildlife or that highlights some of the most pressing environmental issues.
Entries for the Breathing World 2022 competition are open to UK residents aged 12 to 18 years until 5pm (UK time) on Friday 4th November 2022. The winner will get the opportunity to work with an expert team of musicians including the world-renowned mezzo-soprano Laura Wright, to develop and finalise the piece before it is premiered in a live performance. A recording of the piece will be available post event for the composer, for DSWF and for relevant Partners of the competition to use for promotional purposes.
Entries must be submitted digitally via the application form below with audio files and/or scores sent via a file sharing site such as WeTransfer, GoogleDrive or Dropbox to email@example.com. Audio files must be no more than 5 minutes in length and should be uploaded as a digitally compressed audio file ie; as an MP3. Do not submit large .wav or .aif files but ensure your file is of a decent bit rate (ideally 160 kbps or 192 kbps). Scores should be submitted as one single file and not as multiple pages ie; collate multiple pages of your score into one file.
Please name your file/s with your surname followed by the title of the audio recording. We do not recommend using “Breathing World” in the title as it might get lost. Audio files must be no longer than 5 minutes. Please read the Breathing World terms and conditions before submitting your entry. Please do not send your entry form, audio files or scores to the DSWF offices.
