Wild Ride Cyclists Are Star Vloggers! News August 16, 2018 They’ve arrived safely back in the UK with so many amazing tales to tell about their epic 400km Wild Ride across Zambia in aid of DSWF. And super cycling couple Laura Wright and Harry Rowland had barely unpacked their bags, before they set about sharing their experiences with a vibrant video diary of their adventures. The ‘vlog’ features shots of the couple encountering baby elephants at the DSWF funded Game Rangers International (GRI) Elephant Orphanage Project in Lusaka. It also highlights the Wild Ride team’s tour of GRI’s anti-poaching unit, as well as uplifting visits to a local school and women’s outreach group. Among the highlights is Laura singing ‘Amazing Grace’ with the elephant keepers – a memorable moment! The pair were among a team of four conservation ambassadors who braved Zambia’s wildlife and rough roads to cycle to raise funds and awareness for DSWF’s vital work protecting endangered species in Africa. The Wild Ride team, which includes former international cricketer Jacques Rudolph and DSWF’s education advisor Andrew White, have raised some £25,000 to support DSWF’s ongoing conservation and community work in the region. Sadly more than 50 elephants every day are being slaughtered by poachers in Africa. Alarming numbers of rhinos and pangolins are also falling victim to wildlife crime, as demand for animal parts reaches critical levels. You can help save threatened wildlife by donating here.
