Congratulations and a huge thank you to our courageous London Marathon runners! General May 11, 2018 Marvellous Marathon Runners! The weather at this year’s London Marathon was the hottest on record, but team DSWF were on a mission for wildlife! Our brave runners pulled out all the stops to complete the course – raising almost £10,000 in the process. “Team DSWF was made up of seven runners this year, who dedicated an incredible amount of time and effort into running this year’s London Marathon,” said DSWF’s London Marathon Coordinator Marianne Watts. Training is always a challenge, but Team DSWF had to brave the elements throughout, tackling wind, rain and even snow. On race day, temperatures soared and the runners suddenly had to contend with the heat, which peaked at over 23 degrees centigrade – phew! “We are incredibly proud of our team, who all dug deep to run in memory of our Founder David Shepherd CBE FRSA 1931-2017, showing their passion and concern for the wildlife that DSWF works to protect,” added Marianne. A huge thank you to Dani Cox, Rhea Bayliss, Charlie Galley, Tom Hicks, Nick Sagar and Andrew Winton and to Clive Reid (running for the 29th time!) – we are truly grateful for every mile! Team DSWF have raised an amazing amount and these vital funds will support our ‘In His Footsteps’ appeal to continue David’s legacy. But the runners are still £250 short of their £10,000 target – they’ve run to cross the famous finish line, now let’s help them cross theirs!
