Running the marathon is a massive achievement and we will be working alongside our Wildlife Warriors to make it a day they will never forget. We can offer you:

  • Tips and advice from Day 1 – from training and nutrition to fundraising and events.
  • Help with the set-up of your giving page as well as social media and PR support for your fundraising
  • ‘Meet the team’ reception in London  – learn more about DSWF and the projects you will be supporting, meet the other DSWF runners and swap training tips.
  • A personalised high quality running vest – to help you perform at your best and stand out in the crowd, allowing friends and family to spot you and cheer you on!
  • Expert advice on looking after your body during training and on the day
  • Support from our experienced Marathon Mentor to help you with any logistical or training enquiries
  • Support on the day – we will be cheering you on loud and clear throughout the day and at the finishing line.

“Running for DSWF was one of the best things I have done. From the moment I enquired the team have been nothing but supportive, helpful and friendly. I have done many events for different charities and DSWF by far were the most amazing charity I have raised for. They provided an amazing team to get us to the start including people with vast experience of the event, a physio therapist to keep us in tip-top shape and so much support in our fundraising. “The chance to run the London Marathon for the David Shepherd Wildlife foundation is one that, in my opinion, you would need to be mad to turn down. Not only is it an opportunity to take part in one of the worlds largest (and best) sporting events but also to become part of an incredible group of motivated, talented and extraordinary people. Running the London Marathon is the phrase used by most, however from experience I know that the big day is really a reward for months of pain and discomfort – such is the demand of a training plan to complete the 26.2 miles. The David Shepherd wildlife foundation, especially Marianne, were a constant source of help, support and motivation to push through the tough times. At the end you will feel many things, pain being one of them, but that is vastly outweighed by the pride of completing something only around 3% of the world’s population have done. “This was my 29th London Marathon. Having a Good for Age entry into the Marathon, I decided to run in the memory of David, who inspired me many years ago. Although training wasn’t easy this winter, due to the weather, I thought I had done sufficient. It was probably the hottest London Marathon I had ever run, and turned out to be my slowest! It was obvious after about 12 miles it was going to be hard, so I decided to walk and jog. Wearing the DSWF vest was an inspiration, not only for running in aid of DSWF, but also as my name was on the vest, it was being called out every few yards. The finish was very welcome and at the DSWF gazebo I was given tea and cake and had a wonderful massage. I spent so long there I nearly missed the train home! If anyone wants to run the London Marathon, DSWF is a great cause to run for.” Clive Reid, DSWF Wildlife Warrior 2018
