Wildlife Artist of the Year 2021 – virtual exhibition
DSWF was delighted to bring you Wildlife Artist of the Year 2021, in association with BBC Wildlife magazine, compromising of a month-long virtual exhibition and a series of art events.
DSWF CEO Georgina Lamb and her sister, our art patron Emily Lamb hosted a Virtual Award Ceremony, to announce the winners of this year’s competition on Tuesday 25 May. You can view all the winners here.
With over 700 artists, supporters and friends of the foundation joining, we had a wonderful evening, listening to some entertainment by classical singer Laura Wright and the keepers of the GRI Elephant Orphanage in Zambia, and, most importantly, celebrate the winners!
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Wildlife Artist of the Year 2021 exhibition was brought to you virtually for the second year running in an even more immersive and interactive way. Over 250 fantastic artworks from all over the world were exhibited, marking a fixture in the wildlife art calendar for 14 years.
We also hosted several art-related events, including an artist panel on activism, hosted by Martin Aveling, a watercolour demonstration by Hazel Soan and a very special talk by David Shepherd’s OBE daughter, Mandy, about her family’s commitment to conservation and her art career.
