About the piece:
Geri is a professional artist-printmaker, having exhibited in several public collections. ‘Wall Lizards’ is part of an ongoing project exploring how the natural world makes use of man-made structures and environments, whether for food, shelter or community. These lizards lived in the rubble walls of an old French farmhouse, emerging to sun themselves in spring as soon as the stones started to warm up. They would oblige by posing, hanging motionless on the walls. Geri’s subjects often develop over a number of years, as early sketches from observation are translated into an engraved block, then through proofing, and refining an artwork is completed, every stage being undertaken by hand.
