Triple R

Triple R
Raul Orvieto
About the piece:
The concept behind Triple R took shape during a short walk along a beach in Portofino Marine Park, after an autumnal sea storm. The sea shore was totally covered with plastic garbage: this is becoming normal lately and we don’t take care about it anymore. Stingrays, like sharks, are highly threatened species, due to marine pollution and indiscriminate fishing; Hence it became quite natural to adopt them as an icon for recycling, making use of the plastic garbage collected on the shore to emphasize the problem and put it under the spotlight. Raul is an Italian landscape designer and wildlife artist. He mostly carves freshwater fish and some marine animals out of local wood. At present he works in his fish art gallery in Camogli (Ge). Last year Raul won the American National Fish Carving Guild Championship in Oregon in two different categories with a freshwater fish and a common ray, carved out from a cherry wood log. Some of his latest creations were recently published in Italian sports and outdoor magazines.
