About the piece:
South Korean artist Jungi Jang’s commitment to wildlife started with a baby turtle he received as a child, causing him to educate himself about conservation and how humans interact with wildlife. He now uses his art and his photography to advocate for improved wildlife and especially marine conservation. The marine turtle representatively exemplifies underwater creatures that fatally suffer as a result of unconscious human behaviour. It is alarming to witness ignorant people contaminating our ocean by dumping insoluble wastes in the water. Neon hues allude to artificial substances, and blue rays display a confined underwater environment. Turquoise lines sorrowfully transform into a fishnet that pulls back and drastically cuts down marine mammals’ lifespan.
