About the piece:
Colette is an Irish based artist based in the UK. She seeks to make the ordinary extraordinary, each painting an emotional response to the world around her. This painting was influenced by a trip to Botswana. She used the earth triad colours of Payne’s grey, yellow ochre, burnt sienna with black and white and some orange. Colette wanted to capture the special early morning and evening light in Botswana which casts a golden glow over everything. She aimed to portray the magical feeling, and therefore made stencils as it best enabled her to convey the ghost like quality of the animals moving through the vegetation.
