About the piece:
Derek’s work often involves collaborative projects and investigates links between mankind, wildlife, and the environment. This piece was completed as part of his project ‘Migrations’, which brings together topics of the refugee crisis and climate change, depicting birds as environmental indicators. The painting combines these topics and observations with the flight of migratory storks in the spring, and the fables of small birds travelling along on-board with them, nesting under their protection in the storks’ nests. He also wanted a sense of lockdown, community, responsibility and renewal to seep through the background.

At least 50% of the proceeds from this sale will support the charitable work of David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) and our ground-based conservation partners across Africa and Asia.
