Lesley said she couldn’t resist the texture of the skin and the contrast of the tusks, “just seeing the finished piece in my head was inspiration enough to capture this beautiful walrus in clay. Raku firing this piece ensured the skin texture was well represented and a little touch of pink glaze finished him off perfectly”

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

Lesley McKenzie has been working as an artist and sculptor for well over 25 years and has always been captivated by wildlife. Lesley enjoys both painting and sculpting animal subjects and likes to interpret things in her own way, capturing the essence of the animal presence, character or spirit. She uses the raku firing technique for her clay sculptures and she loves the natural, life-like finish that can be achieved.
