ARTWORK DESCRIPTION:
Garry created this rhino sculpture to mimic valuable crystal to signify how precious these endangered animals are. He wanted to emphasise how precious their horns are in terms of monetary value to the lowest base of mankind’s values of greed and selfishness, and yet how precious they are to mankind’s higher values of guardianship and protection.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
Garry White is a self-taught sculptor from Liverpool, UK. Garry specialises mainly in wall-mounted relief sculptures using bonded marble, transparent resins and recycled glass. He tries to create art that is beautiful and uplifting which enhances the spaces they are sited in and derive inspiration from the beautiful natural world. He won the award for Innovative Artist at the 2016 National Exhibition of Wildlife Art. White is constantly experimenting with new ways to express his art and views his artistic career as an unfolding evolutionary process.
