Philip has created a trio of Pintails in his lime wood sculpture. He has always been attracted to their grace and form and in this sculpture he has depicted quarrelsome drakes together with a pacifying hen calling for the discord to end. Philip remarks: “this serves as a metaphor for the convergence of countries in stemming the destruction of the natural world.”
Philip Nelson has worked in wood since he was a child. He has had exhibitions of his work at The Ward Foundation of Wildfowl Art in Maryland, USA and at Nature in Art, Gloucester. Recently, Philip has concentrated on miniature waterfowl and has been awarded the top award by The Royal Miniature Society.
