About the piece:
Working as an illustrator for over 15 years, Hashim gained valuable experience in developing a backbone of drawing, conceptual ideas and painting techniques. ‘Pelican Crossing’ is an acrylic painting based on a photograph Hashim took at Berlin Zoo. He found the patterns from the reflections, sunlight and each individual pelican preening itself completely fascinating. He’s used a ‘mosaic’ painting technique to create the glow of colour and the precision in pulling out the most relevant shapes.
