Pacific Passage

Pacific Passage
Carol Stratman
About the piece:
The innocence and the purity of wild animals is what drew Carol into creating artwork of wildlife. She strives with each work to portray them as accurately as possible, her homage to their beauty and simplicity. ‘Pacific Passage’ depicts the orca, the apex predator of the ocean. However to Carol they are so much more than that. She sees them as intelligent and self-aware, they mourn their dead, and their families stay together forever. As shown in this painting, they travel as a family unit, and individuals can be identified by their unique markings. She has strived to pay these creatures the respect she believes they deserve.
