Sherrie’s linocut “Out of the Blue” depicts a female merganser swimming away from the viewer, dragging a reflection of the sky in her wake.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
A self-taught printmaker and compulsive wanderer, Sherrie York finds her inspiration in the natural world. Through the medium of linocut, Sherrie finds her ‘way to place’. Her work has been presented in national and international exhibitions, including the Woodson Art Museum’s prestigious ‘Birds in Art’, the Concord Museum’s ‘Alive With Birds’, and the Society of Animal Artist’s ‘Art and the Animal’. She has been an invited artist on projects with the Artists for Nature Foundation, and has had recent solo exhibitions at the Museum of American Bird Art and the Wendell Gilley Museum.
