ARTWORK DESCRIPTION:
As a child Clare Parkes used to spend her summers visiting her father in Norway where she used to see a lot of red squirrels. Clare has a particular fondness for the squirrels and wanted to make them the main focus of this piece “Little Red”, capturing details in the fur and little clasped hands.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
Clare Parkes is a wildlife and pet portrait artist based in Hertfordshire, England, working predominantly in pastel pencils. Clare discovered drawing in 2018 whilst on maternity leave and it has become a huge passion. She has been working for the last 14 years as a wax figure painter at Madame Tussauds, and it is here that she discovered a love of detail and realism. She loves capturing the emotion and personality of each animal in her drawings, bringing the viewer up close and personal with the subject, offering them a chance to observe the little details and characteristics that make each face unique.
