About the piece:
Spanish artist Jose Miguel Pino holds a Higher Technical Degree in Sculpturing from the Granada Art School and a Bachelor’s in fine arts from the University of Granada. In 2011, he won the Robles Pozo Foundation prize for his piece ‘Chrysaetos’. He loves representing animals, especially wild ones in his realistic and synthetic style. Although he makes sculptures in any type of material (resin, ceramic, wood, stone), metal is his favourite medium. It’s hard work (as hard as the material itself) and although the process is slow, painstaking and laborious, the result especially comforts him. The artwork is a synthetic and figurative representation of a leafcutter ant, made of 2mm thick steel, with rustic patina applied. It’s presented on a rustic olive wood trunk.
