About the piece:
Jonathan Parkinson has been sculpting for over two years, with the lockdown in South Africa offering him a chance to divulge further in his interest, away from his main profession in film making. The artwork depicts a black bellied tree pangolin from Central and West Africa – a highly endangered species, prized for its keratin scales. The scales grow in a double pi spiral which occurs so often in nature.
