Fly Away

Fly Away
Dorjan Shabani
About the piece:
A characteristic of Dorjan’s work is the movement of colour and form. This form takes the style of a perpetual movement inspired by the universe and rhythm of life. The technique and style is inspired by Persian calligraphy and abstraction on a variety of materials including acrylic on canvas, wood, walls, and fabric. This painting of wings is a metaphor for Dorjan’s desire for freedom, her difficulty in expressing herself artistically and the challenges of travelling and settling into another country because of her nationality. Her struggle is finally coming to fruition, and this painting reflects that.
