About the piece:
Ryan described ‘Curiosity’ – “with each layer of pastel I built up on the paper, I tried to capture more and more of the inquisitive nature in the Emperor Tamarin’s face and posture. The pastel pencils helped replicate the vibrant colours throughout the animal’s fur whilst also allowing me to achieve the fine details.” Ryan had only picked up a pencil three times in 9 years until this Christmas just gone when someone challenged him to draw their friend’s dog! “I’ve completed about six pet portraits now and was informed about this competition and as it’s supporting a cause very dear to me I thought I’d give it whirl with the first wildlife drawing I’ve ever done!”
At least 50% of the proceeds from this sale will support the charitable work of David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) and our ground-based conservation partners across Africa and Asia.
