As quoted by Nick: “For years I have been captivated by pangolins – nature’s animated pine cone. I often sculpt relatively unknown animals. I spend time observing my subject: its form, movement, behaviour and personality. I wanted to celebrate the pangolin’s beautiful flowing form as it uncurls from its defensive ball, tentatively sniffing the air to check that danger has passed. Capturing the intricacy of its scales was truly a labour of love, each one having to be painstakingly modelled.”
