ARTWORK DESCRIPTION: 

Andrew Pledge feels the buffalo, a proud and incredibly powerful animal, is probably the least loved and most overlooked of the ‘Big Five’ in Africa. The textures, the scars, the mud, and the ‘boss’ of the horns all made the buffalo an irresistible subject for him as an artist.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

Andrew Pledge’s passion for painting stems from his love of wildlife. Often Andrew uses real silver/gold leaf in his work, which creates a beautiful contrast with the oil paint. The reflective quality of the silver allows the paintings to be as ever changing as the light. In 2019, Andrew made the leap from full-time employment as an architectural model maker to becoming an artist. In 2020, his first completed painting ‘Wood Stork’ won him the ‘DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year’.
