Boned the Scarlet Macaw
About the piece:
Alexandre Leblanc is a Creative Director and photographer based in Paris. He realised the importance of conservation and the protection of wildlife from a young age, and after working for many years he decided it was time to contribute towards helping our beautiful planet. This contribution towards bettering our world has manifested itself through his creation of ‘BONED’. ‘The Scarlet Macaw’ is part of this project which depicts the skulls of critically endangered species. The skulls represent resurrection, intelligence, protection, and warnings of danger. He uses a commonly macabre form, however makes it luxuriant in order to raise conservation awareness. This piece aims to carry a dignity in its weight and stillness, and is a clear witness in testifying to the existence, beauty, and value of the species depicted.
At least 50% of the proceeds from this sale will support the charitable work of David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) and our ground-based conservation partners across Africa and Asia.
