Black Foot

Black Foot
Doyle Hostetler
About the piece:
Doyle grew up in Colorado where the mountains and animals mesmerised him, meaning that wildlife has always been his subject matter. ‘Black Foot’ depicts the black footed ferret. The reliance of one species on another is part of this aniamls’ story. The black foot ferret nearly became extinct when prairie dogs were being exterminated across the American West, this being one of their main sources of food. Doyle has had ferrets as pets, having always marvelled at their physical build, explicitly built to hunt their prey.
