ARTWORK DESCRIPTION:

Sharon’s artwork, ‘An Urban Watchman’, tells the story of a fierce and powerful ‘caretaker’ calmly but assertively watching over its homeland. She has used a combination of blended brush and knifework to create a sense of movement followed by stillness. The exposed canvas helps to show the rawness of the natural world and highlights the anticipation and watchfulness of the urban crow.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

Sharon Casey, an emerging artist based in Dublin, seeks to explore the energy and vibrancy of the natural world. Intrigued by the honesty and the truth of animals, their unique character, instinctive behaviour, intelligence, intuition and loyalty, she strives to portray these qualities in her work. Working primarily with oil paint using an alla prima technique and combination of knife and brush work, she delights in creating texture and bringing freshness to her work through the thick application of paint and expressive mark making.
