ARTWORK DESCRIPTION:

Martin’s sculpture of an American Bison was created from a solid block of wood using simple, slightly abstracted forms and surfaces.  His aim was to try to portray the solidity, weight and power of this wonderful beast in a small package.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

Martin Buffery’s artwork is entirely amateur and is just a chance to create without the restrictions of a day job in automotive design. He enjoys most mediums – oil, watercolour, pastel, pencil, coloured pencil and, more recently, he has started to carve things in wood. Martin explains that it’s fun to try something new, especially when his livelihood doesn’t depend on it! He has exhibited around the world and won several awards including category wins in the DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year Competition, BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year and was the Overall Winner in the West Midland Safari Artist of the Year in 2016.
