Humans have played a large part in orangutans becoming a critically endangered species. Through the medium of oil, the artist Alice McConnel wanted to create an intimate head study to highlight our affinity with these incredible animals.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Alice McConnel is a self-taught artist specialising in oil paintings and artworks in pencil. She has worked mainly on commission-based animal portraits, and more recently has produced a series of original works focusing on endangered wildlife, raising awareness and highlighting the importance of conservation. Her close attention to detail and realistic style encapsulates the character of each subject. She was delighted to be selected to exhibit her work as part of the Art for Youth exhibition at the Mall Galleries in 2023.
