The tiny African jacana, with their enormous spider-like feet, virtually walk on water. But what makes them unique is that the male raises and cares for the chicks, scooping them up under his wings in one of the most beautiful demonstrations of parental care.

Polly Hosp is a printmaker. Her practice is built on a deep connection with the fragile natural world, with a focus on animal behaviour, the environment and storytelling. Building on memories from over a decade living in the heart of the African bush, Polly’s aim is to engage the viewer in big conservation issues through simple joyful imagery. Drawing is at the heart where the line is integral, but the process is about expression.
