‘The Collector’ was inspired by the book ‘The Emperor of All Maladies’ which explored the history of cancer. The crab is positioned on a stark black background, a specimen of curiosity and complexity, a symbol of death, a reminder that we are mortal, and nature is forever.

Oil on canvas
