Agnese Davies – Primate Negotiations

Sculpture | 20 × 72 × 17 cm | Freestanding

Agnese Davies was inspired to create this lifelike wool sculpture of long tailed macaque by the stories of their clever nature and adaptation amongst humans in cities like Bali. Macaques are enjoying an easy life by stealing belongings of unaware tourists and exchanging them back for high calorie foods.

Wool on wire and wood

Agnese Davies is an award-winning artist who has gained international recognition for her lifelike creations. She is passionate about the natural world and loves wildlife. Her sculptures are delicately created, crafting wool over carefully proportioned wire armatures. Great care is taken to capture the detail and personality of each individual subject. In 2023, amongst other highly commended awards, Agnese was the winner of the Ross-on-Wye Arts Competition and a finalist in the Broadway Arts Festival. She was recently invited to be ‘Artist in Residence’ at Wallsworth Hall, the home of ‘Nature in Art’, a museum exclusively dedicated to nature-inspired art.
