In ‘Clinging to Hope’ the artist’s intent is to create a painting to show the beautiful but fragile position of the koala bear since being declared endangered. The unresolved use of watercolours seemingly shows the koala disappearing into the background to reflect their decline due to habitat loss.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Painting in watercolours and oils, Rosie Smith left teaching after 16 years to become a professional artist. Her intention is to honour the spirit of nature through a vivid palette and masterful expression. Throughout the year, Rosie’s artwork now finds its way to various galleries, stockists, and shows. Her commitment to conservation extends to her eco-card and giftware range, sold worldwide. Rosie continues to use her art as a platform to raise money for wildlife, auctioning off artwork in aid of ‘Helping Rhinos’ and donating a percentage of profits from workshops to wildlife charities.
