Balance; it is so important and yet so much is worryingly out of balance at the moment. This piece seeks to raise easily overlooked urban plants to a cameo status, where in the right light, they literally come out of the paper towards the viewer and demand to be noticed.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Kate Alger is a multi-disciplinary analogue artist-printmaker and educator; her work is made entirely by hand.
Kate’s recent work explores our relationship with the environment through blind embossings which invite the viewer to notice overlooked urban plants, painterly monotypes which seek to evoke the emotion of a place or character of an animal, coffee-lift etchings and collagraphs which celebrate woodland views familiar to Kate, and detailed hand-coloured pen drawings which feature flora and fauna from a rare habitat close to Kate’s home. Kate Alger exhibits regularly. Her work is held in private collections and has been featured in specialist press.
