ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Evoking a disturbing trophy cabinet, this artwork poses a question about the cost of species loss, driven by the illegal wildlife trade and destruction of habitat.

Pencil-drawn price tags represent wild animals as a commodity, strung between handcrafted barbed wire, symbolising the ever-present threat to Earth’s ecosystems and biodiversity.

Is it a price we are willing to pay?

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rachel Evans is an artist and printmaker with a background in zoology and microbiology. Rachel worked in animal welfare for 20 years before moving into her current role at Samaritans.

She recently completed an MA in Art Psychotherapy at the University of South Wales, appreciating the intrinsic benefits of art and nature to support wellbeing.

Rachel believes that environmental artivism can inspire deeper connection to the natural world and draw attention to important conservation issues like habitat and biodiversity loss.
