Oil on real silver leaf

Beauty is in the eye of wildlife painter, Andrew Pledge, who often seeks out unpopular-and let’s face it, ugly birds to create beautiful images. It’s a talent that’s won the self-taught wildlife artist the prestigious David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Wildlife Artist of the Year 2020 award for his painting of an American wood stork.

The use of real silver and gold leaf is a big part of Andrew’s recent creations. The combination of oil paint and precious metal is a difficult but highly rewarding challenge.
