Description

About The Piece
This highly detailed bronze miniature of a Sunda Pangolin (Manis javanica) shows the animal just emerging from its curled up, defensive position. It was made using the lost wax method of casting, and during the initial carving process great care was taken by the artist to accurately render and highlight the beautiful scales that this critically endangered species is famous for. This is a tactile piece and is designed to be closely examined, held in the hand and passed around. It comes with a hand carved wooden stand signed by the artist on which to display it to full effect. Hester is a biology graduate with a particular interest in threatened species. She aims, in her miniatures, to accurately capture the features and attitude of a particular species while creating a pleasing and tactile piece of sculpture.

At least 50% of the proceeds from this sale will support the charitable work of  David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) and our ground-based conservation partners across Africa and Asia.
