The sculpture that stands in memory of Sudan, the last male northern white rhino.

In light of today’s sad news – the loss of the last male northern white rhino, Sudan – we have no better way to pay due respect to this majestic species than through this magnificent sculpture of Sudan.

Sudan, after suffering age-related ailments, had to be put down after his condition worsened. He leaves behind two female northern white rhinos at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in central Kenya; now the only two remaining animals of this subspecies. We are witnessing the demise of the Northern white rhino, after populations have been decimated by poaching for their horns.

Our Wildlife Artist of the Year 2018 shortlist is due to be released next week, however, we are proud to announce that this sculpture of Sudan in Bronze Resin, by artist Camilla Le May, is a finalist in this year’s exhibition. Make sure you keep the date in the diary to see this truly impactful artwork stand in the Mall Galleries, London SW1 2nd – 6th May (Private Preview 1st May).
