The Wild Ride team visit camp Phoenix
After completing the first leg of their journey, the Wild Ride team have just spent the day at the DSWF funded Phoenix Camp in the Kafue National park.
Run by Game Rangers International (GRI), camp Phoenix is the second stage of the ‘rescue, rehabilitate and release’ programme providing a safe and secure environment to release elephant orphans back into the wild.
The facility backs onto the ancient Ngoma Teak Forest, home to a large herd of approximately 1000 wild elephants making it an ideal spot to encourage interaction between the orphans and their wild brethren.
Take a look at Laura and Harry discussing their emotions after seeing the elephants for the first time!
