Wild Golf Day to Save Endangered Species!
If you’re wild about golf and would like to tee off to support a local wildlife charity, why not sign up for DSWF’s charity golf day in Surrey in September?
Held at the prestigious Cranleigh Golf and Country Club, the event on Friday September 28 will raise much-needed funds to save threatened species such as elephants, tigers, rhinos and pangolins.
Susie Baxter, DSWF’s Head of Fundraising said: “Now in its third year, our charity golf event is always a really fun day and open to players of any standard. It’s all in a very good cause, supporting our vital work fighting wildlife crime, protecting endangered species and engaging with local communities on the ground in Asia and Africa.”
Entry for a team of four costs £300, which includes a light brunch and a delicious two-course dinner in the club’s beautiful beamed hall. There will also be a prize-giving – as well as awards for golfing achievements, there will be prizes for nearest the pin, most balls lost, most time spent in the rough and a ‘Wild Thing’ award for the best fancy dress!
Cranleigh Golf and Country Club is a par-68 course set in stunning parkland. It starts with a picturesque par three and features many tree-lined fairways as the round unfolds. It’s a very playable course, but can also test the more proficient golfer. The beauty of the surrounding Surrey Hills is a constant feature of this beautiful club.
DSWF works across Africa and Asia helping to protect endangered species and their wild habitats, raising awareness about the importance of protecting local wildlife among communities, as well as fighting wildlife crime, such as poaching, on the frontline.
Wildlife crime is reaching critical levels in many regions – more than 50 African elephants are lost to ivory poachers EVERY day, over a million pangolins have been traded over the last decade and tigers are gradually being driven to extinction, with only around 3,500 left in the wild.
