ROAR matching campaign could double funding for tigers

TigerTime with parent charity DSWF is aiming to create a huge ROAR for wild tigers around the world this autumn as part of the US-based 2014 R.O.A.R. Matching Campaign.

The four-week campaign, launched by Animal Planet’s non-profit initiative R.O.A.R (which stands for Reach Out. Act. Respond) is hosted by GlobalGiving, and runs from Monday September 8th to Tuesday October 7th 2014.

“We’re delighted to have been chosen as a principle partner for this great fundraising campaign that gives our supporters the chance to have their donations matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000 from the proceeds of Animal Planet products,” says DSWF, CEO Sally Case. “With tigers facing an uncertain future in the wild DSWF and our TigerTime Campaign will be working hard to raise additional, vital funds to support our work to save tigers in the wild.”

With $50,000 of bonuses up for grabs in five additional categories including Top Monthly Fundraiser – Dollar Amount, Most Unique Number of Donors, Most Traffic to Your Cause Page, Loudest ‘ROAR’ Heard by Judges and Fan Favourite raising money and awareness are equally important.

“We’ll be pulling out all the stops to raise awareness to save the tiger calling on our supporters, including celebrities like Ricky Gervais and Stephen Fry, to lend their voice to the campaign,” adds DSWF and TigerTime Communications Manager, Vicky Flynn. “With fewer than 3,200 tigers left in the wild the clock is ticking for this iconic species and the R.O.A.R Matching Campaign is giving us a real chance to make a real difference for tigers in the wild and the people who share their habitat.”
